Excellence at Work can only be accomplished when new ways of conducting business are rolled out successfully. It takes more than just deploying a system and putting an infrastructure in place. As an organization transitions from its current state (as is) to its changed state (to be) through the implementation of new processes and technology, people at all levels within the organization must embrace the change. Internal and external customer issues must be managed to ensure that transition is effective and sustainable. At V-Tech, we understand the elements involved in successfully implementing change. Our project management consultants are PMP-certified by the Project Management Institute and have significant experience in large, complex enterprises and endeavors. This allows them to assess risks to your business from diverse cultural, integration, financial, legal, geographical, security and operational perspectives. When we identify risks, we also indicate their severity and the probability of their occurrence, as well as formulate strategies to minimize or mitigate their impact.

Some features of our approach:

Configuration Management & Process Management - We consistently employ Configuration Management (CM) processes, tools, and systems in order to increase productivity and improve success rates.

We use CM to track and control software development activities. This includes the management of multiple developers working on the same code simultaneously, targeting multiple platforms, supporting multiple versions, and controlling the status of code (for example beta test versus real release). We employ check-in/check-out control of sources (and sometimes binaries) and the ability to perform builds (or compiles) of the entities.

V-Tech also utilizes Process Management to control software development activities. For example, we might check to ensure that a change request existed and had been approved for fixing and that the associated design, documentation, test and review activities have been completed before allowing the code to be "checked in" again. While process management and control are necessary for a repeatable, optimized development process, our experience has demonstrated that a solid CM foundation for that process is also essential.

Quality Assurance
- QA is one of the most important steps to the success of our projects. Our Quality Management Plan (QMP) calls for the QA team to:
  • Oversee that standards, processes, and policies are in place and carried out;
  • Recommend and implement any improvements;
  • Ensure that the relevant personnel in your organization are kept informed.
  • When appropriate, we assign a senior manager to provide oversight and control of projects and to perform QA edits and reviews on a regular basis. The benefit to you as a customer is the assurance that your project is being managed correctly, reports are timely and meaningful, and the project is on time and within budget.

QA Tools - At V-Tech, we utilize a variety of proven QA tools, including, the Balanced Scorecard for project control and PRINCE2 (Projects In Controlled Environments2) to control the individual tasks. We use these processes to meet standards and performance measures. We also use the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) to control large acquisition projects and a modified EVMS tool for the management and oversight of contracts. The EVMS helps to objectively measure performance and coordinate work scope, schedule, and cost goals.

Risk Management

Risk management is the process of measuring, or assessing, risk and developing appropriate strategies to mitigate the potential adverse impact to an organization.
